what’s wrong with my brown knife-fish?

i just recently bought a 3-4 inch brown knife from Petsmart. it was fine the day i bought it but then i looked in the next morning and its right eye is swollen and red and its left eye is a bit cloudy. is bottom fin is not one color like it should be and has little peices missing that weren’t when i got it. it also has some darker brown splotches on it that look a little lit bruising. what disease is this and how can itreat it. (all my other fish are fine btw)

It could be pop eye and fin rot. Both are caused by dirty water, probably from the breeder or pet store. They are bacterial infections and since you’ve exposed your other fish you should treat the entire tank. Run back to petsmart and buy some medicine, follow the directions and he should recover.
Of course, you could just take him back to the store since he’s still under warranty, so to speak. However, you’re going to have to treat your tank anyhow so why not see if he recovers first?
