if your fish have white spots on them that look like grains of salt – then your tank has ich. If one fish in the tank has it, then the tank has it. Some fish are much more suseptible to it than others and it may have caused their death. However, you should also look at the quality of the water. You didn’t mention what size tank you have. Have you tested the water for nitrites, ammonia, nitrates? These things can all be a factor.
fish sometimes get sick because of the water being dirty because of food waste or something in the air like a fragrance or something . go to the petstore and have your water cheked they are goingto give you some drops and problem solved.
I would take a sample of the water to the pet store (one that specializes in fish would be best) and have them test it.
maybe u shouldve fed it!!!!! or maybe one of your other fish gave the fish that dies an STD!!!!!
sounds like it’s ick. you should treat the tank with either Coppersafe (by Mardel) or Ick Clear (by Jungle Lab) immediately. remember to do a partial water change before starting a treatment (i would say a 50%). then follow the instruction on the box.
then as ick started to clear up (white dot fades from fish body) and do 25% water change everyday for at least 5 days (that way ick should be removed from your tank). as you do the water change, use the stress coat to neutralize chlorine from water and promote a slime coat on fish body for rapid healing. also use aquarium salt (1 teaspoon per 5 gallon of water) as salt is proved to be very effective against ick.
Ick should be resolved in 7-10 days. then you should keep you the weekly partial water change and, make sure your tank is not overcrowded.
good luck and i hope the fish recover shortly.
from what im getting at you where completely unprepared
for any illness you should always have a testin kit to check for illness ahead of time
it could trully be anything
over stocking, bad water quality, ammonia, nitrates,ph
the siamese fighters ich didnt kill your fish some thing else did and from the illness spreading around your fighters contracted ich
try testing your water and quaratining the fish that are severely sick
One important secret: when cleaning the tank, do not renew all water, let at least some 20% of the old water on it. Try it and you’ll succeed.
if you just got the tank, and the water is not fish ready ( this happens to all tanks) fish can die when going though the nitrogen cycle, it only lasts about a week or 2 but try to look it up online.
My experience with fish tells me that you may have/had a case of ICK going on in your tank.
This results in white spots, fins being ’stuck’ together, cloudy eyes and a bunch of other characteristics. They have treatments at the pets store and even little tests that you can give your water to see if ICK is present.
I would also recommend that you pick up a pH test kit. If your water is too neutral or too acidic, this can harm fish, too. But, judging by the spots on your one fishy, I would say it’s ICK.
Good luck!
Hi; Your Beta(fighting fish) has ich and Pet stores carry medications for this. A salt treatment can be used, but for the novelist this isn’t a good idea. The Mollies like a brackish(slightly salty) water. Never introduce new fish to your aquarium at first. Isolated them in a bowl floated on top of the Aquarium water.
Sounds like ick. :[
Ick is a parasite. Because ick is contagious, it is preferable to treat the whole tank when one fish is found to have it. Ick is temperature sensitive: Raise temperature to 85 F and add one drop of Aquarisol per gal every day until cured. It will only take a few days to get rid of the pesky little parasites. Do a full water change and add one drop of Aquarisol and salt (per above proportions) to the water. Go with the old fashion Aquarisol recipe, it works great.
My husband has tons of fish and one has grown to be almost a foot long! People give him fish and they always live even if injured by his bigger fish. So anyways… here’s what they he does and I think this is why no fish die. He keeps the fish in only purified water and feeds them only Hikari Ciclid Gold products. Go to big pet store (Walmart don’t have crap) to find more bigger selection of these products. Before you buy any more fish buy a book to learn about them. One type of fish may not mix well with others. Find you a pet store owned by orientals, too. They can educate you better on what to do. That’s how he learned most of what he knows. Oh, and you do need to keep tank water at certain tempature (you may need a heater for water). Good Luck!
The Betta Flare is my idol.
Sounds like you have whitspot, And how big if your tank, How many fish do you have in it?, What are your water parameters, ph,ammonia., etc
First off have you tested your water and what were the readings?
If all of your fish became sick at the same time? Did they all have white spots? Sounds like ich to me. Ich or white spot is common in tanks with mollies in them. You need to treat the tank with ich medicine sold at most pet stores and stores that have pet sections.
You have to be careful when treating your fish and know what they have before treating.
It is possiable your fish have ich as well as other problems. Are you doing a weekly water change? What is your temperature of the tank set at now? Although temperature plays a roll in the health of your fish a constant temperature not one that jumps.
Test your water and see what your readings are. Start there.
