i have a 100 liter aquarium and am just trying to find out if it is big enough for a knife fish.

i have not got any fish in it at all as it is new and not even set up yet. i have another tank and have kept fish for years, just looking at other options thanks

Noooo, they need at LEAST a 75 gallon tank ( they get big and need lots of swimming room) your tank is only 26gal. Also they are VERY hard to take care of, you will have a hard time keeping them alive, i would not go for these fish (i know they look really cool i wanted one too but was very disapointed hwen i heard they needed that big of a tank) sorry bud :( try another one! and thanks for asking before buying lots of people don’t hehe :)

Your tank is no where near large enough these fish are capable of reaching 24 so would require 150+ gallon, obviously you’re aware they’re a nocturnal predator, so you would need to have sufficient space to put hide aways for him and any other fish would have to be large enough to evade and not fit in its mouth.

    Nope.

You will want a around 300l to keep an adult Black Ghost Knife.

There are lots of interesting options for a 100l, small cichlids or loaches, gourami etc.

Black ghost knives are cool fish. But that tank is too small. You need a bigger tank. Since they are nocturnal, they need places to hide during the day. I think they grow to the size of a human arm. BGK are the smallest among other knife fish.
