alexfthe asked:

For the last few years I have been working as a stage carpenter/technician in California. For work I (and many others I know) always made it a habit to carry a 3 1/2 inch partially serrated locking liner folding knife clipped inside my front pocket. It is a great all-purpose tool and especially useful because I can get to it with one hand.
Where I come from its common to see people of many occupations carrying such knives, even people involved in stocking for retail shops (for cardboard boxes), but since arriving in the UK I’ve discovered that the subject is much more sensitive here. I figured it was primarily a big issue with teenagers, and as long as I kept quiet and only took the knife out of my pocket to really use as a tool on the job all would be well.
However, my boss found me cutting some plastic sheeting in the loading bay of the theatre today and warned me that I better not let anyone passing by see my ‘tool’. So my question is: A) can I use this knife indoors at work? B) can I carry it to and from work in my pocket? and C) can I use it outdoors in the immediate vicinity of my workplace?

the particular model is the last one listed here (Denali): http://crkt.com/14ksummt.html

welshdragon0038 asked:

I have a 3 1/2 folding knife given to me by a friend for use in self-defense but I haven’t taken it out yet because I don’t know if I need a permit to carry it. If/when I do bring it with me, it would be when I walk around the downtown area of a city. Does anyone know if I would need a permit to carry it? It’s not like a hunting knife; it’s 3 1/2 long and when unfolded looks rather much like an unserrated steak knife

Thanks!
John S- I am 19 and live on a college campus where carrying a gun would be illegal but my knife isn’t, but thank you for the suggestion…

John B- My knife is never to cause someone harm unless I believe that I am in strong and immediate danger of being kidnapped, raped, violently robbed, or worse… the knife isn’t really sharp (I can run my finger along it and it doesn’t even hurt) but I suppose it could look a little intimidating and all I’d want is for a possible attacker to step back so i could escape… I suppose I might be just paranoid but I’m from a rural area and now have to go into the city a lot by myself which makes me nervous

Jack A asked:

I went into a bar a few minutes ago and these young scruffy looking biker gang members were showing off there backs to me by sitting on the bar table . The one guy had a very large knife in a holster on his waste with a large red bandanna wrapped around it .He had a large chain around his right shoulder which I presume is a weapon disguised as a fashion assessorie. Can some one shed some light on this? I didn’t like the way there were acting so i drank one beer and left and as I was leaving the guy with the knife was sitting on the bar room table and yelled what only one beer? oh you must be a cop on a snoopy mission I laughed and walked out. i live in south carolina and i don’t think there were from around here . I could get a good glimpse of there gang patches but it started with Mud somthing Brotherhood
